Some familiarity with your operating system’s command line will be required as we’ll be using commands to get everything up and running. So were those computers intelligent? How did they know not only how to play the game\, but to play it well? \n\n\n\nThe answer is ‘Combinatorial Game Theory\,’ (CGT) and ‘Minimax’ (MM). Minimax is an implementation of the ideas about winning moves for zero-sum games put forward by CGT. \n\n\n\nIn this intermediate-level session\, Doug Sartori will walk through a demonstration of how CGT and MM can be used in basic games (think Go\, Tic-Tac-Toe\, and checkers). In partnership with The City of Windsor\, The County Wide Active Transportation System (CWATS)\, and Parallel 42 Systems\, we launched a beta version of WindsorEssexCycling.ca. This free to use\, no account required web app offered cycling routes that took into consideration road conditions such as speed limit\, surface quality\, bike lane presence\, and general traffic levels. \n\n\n\nBuilt by community members\, this version served as a proof-of-concept\, and gave users something to test and provide feedback on. \n\n\n\nWith that feedback and contributions from even more community members\, we’ve developed WindsorEssexCycling.ca Version 2. \n\n\n\nUsing the same principles as the original\, V2 offers a better UI as well as turn-by-turn directions. Routing improvements are a never-ending endeavour\, with updates coming through as our OpenStreetMap team incrementally improves the underlying data. \n\n\n\nOn Thursday\, September 19th we’re celebrating the official launch of WindsorEssexCycling.ca V2 with an event at our HQ in Downtown Windsor\, and online via Zoom. Developer Haley Tibbits will be on hand to discuss some of her work\, and members of our OSM team will be present to talk about routing. Spearheaded by Geopogo Cities\, this project looks to create a powerful public tool that combines civic data layers\, 3D LiDAR scan data\, and SimCity-like features to empower community groups and design visionaries to realize their ideas for what Windsor can become. \n\n\n\nCheck out the recording from that event on our Youtube page! \n\n\n\nLater that year Geopogo Creative Director Mike Hoppe came back to share how the project had evolved. That session was also recorded! \n\n\n\nThis month Mike is returning once again – and this time in person! The purpose of GAAD is to get people to share lived experiences and innovative ideas about digital access and inclusion. \n\n\n\nIn this session we will learn about the Ontario open for business economic growth strategy that requires all Ontario organizations to implement the four core principles of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). The AODA was passed into law in 2005 with the goal of full inclusion by 2025. The purpose of AODA is to create a more inclusive province\, that can attract more economic growth by removing as many barriers as possible\, making Ontario open for everyone. \n\n\n\nPresenter David Best will dig into how the AODA can help your business reach larger markets.
