Have you ever used voice-to-text to write a message? What about an AI notetaker? Or the find-my-phone feature of your smart watch? Guess what – you’ve made use of assistive technology.
While accessibility is often framed around specialized medical devices, it is fundamentally about user experience and removing barriers. Some assistive tech has just become more mainstream than others. So whether you identify as disabled or just appreciate anything that makes life easier, you likely rely on accessibility tools every single day.
Even if the tool itself isn’t new or unique, we want to know how you use it to make your day easier, safer, or more enjoyable. Share your specialized assistive tech, or tell us how you make the most of a default app – all experiences are welcome.
Join us for this free, virtual event where you’ll have the option to spend a few minutes describing and demonstrating the tool or program you use, what you like about it, and how it might be made even better. (Not a fan of public speaking? No problem! Chat participants and spectators are always welcome.)
Following the event we’ll share a list of everything that was presented so you can further research anything that interests you.
This is an opportunity to learn about specialized devices that you didn’t know existed, things you might want to try for yourself, and about how other people experience the world. You’ll come away with a new understanding of what ‘accommodation,’ means, and a new awareness of barriers inherent in every day life.
