For the third year running, Windsor Hackforge is proud to mark Canada’s National AccessAbility Week (NAAW) from May 24 to 30, 2026. The programming aims to make Windsor-Essex more inclusive through tech education and community collaboration with partners like Assisted Living of Southwestern Ontario (ALSO) and WEtech. 2026 highlights include a public survey looking for positive accessibility experiences, and an offer for two local businesses to receive a free website accessibility audit.
“Inclusion isn’t just a goal; it’s an economic and social necessity for Windsor-Essex,” says Board Chair Doug Sartori. “By mapping our most inclusive spots we aren’t just celebrating a week, we’re building a permanent resource to help our neighbours navigate the city with ease.”
Opportunities:
- Take the Survey: Individuals are encouraged to identify accessible local experiences by May 4th.
- Free Website Audits: Businesses can apply to receive a live, interactive accessibility audit
- Join the Program: Individuals, businesses, and organizations are invited to participate in the annual event.
- Reach out to info@hackf.org for more information
As part of the lead-up to NAAW, Hackforge and ALSO are launching a community survey to identify high performers in accessibility across the region. The goal is to build a public directory of the area’s most inclusive locations to help everyone navigate the community with ease.
The survey seeks specific examples of accessible experiences, whether physical, sensory, or communicative. Responses are being accepted until Monday, May 4th.
Hackforge is inviting local businesses and community members to participate in this year’s programming. Opportunities are available for demos, presentations, and sponsorships. We’re also selecting two local businesses to receive a free accessibility audit of their website.
