The goal of Global Game Jam is to bring people together to create video games or non-digital games, like board or card games. Participants, also known as jammers, work together to rapidly prototype game designs and hopefully create inspiring new ideas that contribute to the growth of the games industry. All Global Game Jam sites share a common theme. Please note: Global Game Jam is not a competition.
This year Hackforge is participating as a site host! This means we’ll be providing game building mentorship, help navigating the signup and upload process, and a place to work. We’re offering a hybrid site, meaning folks can join us in-person at Hackforge HQ at designated times, or virtually via video and text chat on Discord.

Our event schedule is as follows:
Jam Kickoff (Keynote Presentation, account setup, etc): Monday, January 22nd, 8 – 10pm (VIRTUAL ONLY)
Jam Site Open (work collaboratively, get assistance, socialize, etc): Tuesday, January 23rd, 4 – 8pm / Wednesday, January 24th, 4 – 8pm / Thursday, January 25th, 4 – 8pm
Jam Closing (complete, submit, and present games): Sunday, January 28th, 12 – 7pm
If joining us in-person, please bring any materials and equipment you need to create your game with you. This could be crafting supplies (if creating a board game), or computer equipment. We have power bars and extension cords available.
